Measuring the auxiliary plane of the lathe tool

In order to determine and measure the geometric angle of the tool, three auxiliary planes should be selected as the reference. The three auxiliary planes are the cutting plane, the base plane and the orthogonal plane.

1) the cutting plane Ps cutting plane is a plane cut at the selected cutting point of the main cutting edge and perpendicular to the bottom plane of the cutter bar.

2) the base surface of the base Pr is a plane that passes through the selected cutting edge of a main cutting edge and is parallel to the bottom surface of the cutter bar.

3) the orthogonal plane P0 main section is a plane perpendicular to the cutting plane and perpendicular to the base plane.

It can be seen that these three coordinate planes are perpendicular to each other, forming a space rectangular coordinate system.
