Selection of NC machining tool

The selection of cutting tools is carried out under the state of human-computer interaction of NC programming. The tool and tool holder should be correctly selected according to the machining capability of machine tools, the properties of workpieces, machining procedures, cutting parameters and other related factors.

The general principles of tool selection are: easy installation and adjustment, good rigidity, high durability and high accuracy. Under the premise of meeting the machining requirements, we should choose a shorter tool holder as much as possible to improve the rigidity of tool processing. When selecting a tool, the size of the tool should be adapted to the surface dimensions of the workpiece.

1. the peripheral contour of planar parts is often machined by end mills.

2. when milling the plane, the carbide blade milling cutter should be selected.

3. when machining the boss and grooves, choose high speed steel end mills.

4. when machining rough surface or rough machining hole, corn milling cutter with carbide inserts can be selected.

5. for the machining of three dimensional and variable bevel profile, ball end mills, ring milling cutters, conical milling cutters and disc milling cutters are often used.

6. in the process of free-form surface, because the end cutting speed of the ball head is zero, so, in order to ensure the precision of the machining, the cutting distance is usually very tight, so the ball head is often used for the finishing of the surface.

7. flat cutting tool is superior to ball head tool in surface machining quality and cutting efficiency. Therefore, the flat head should be preferred as long as the rough machining or finishing of the surface is made under the premise of ensuring the cutting.
