A carbide inlaid chipper knife is used for wood chipping applications where customers need better wear resistance while keeping the blade cost practical. It is suitable for wood chippers working with hardwood, recycled wood, biomass material and other demanding cutting conditions.

 

For many chipper knife applications, solid A8 steel is a common option. In some cases, an inlaid structure can be more economical: the cutting edge uses A8 modified steel or another wear-resistant material, while the knife body uses mild steel or another suitable base material.

Inlay chipper knives are suitable when customers want a balance between blade service life and cost. They are often used when ordinary chipper knives wear quickly, but a full solid tool steel blade is not the most economical choice.

• What is the difference between solid A8 chipper knives and inlay chipper knives?

 

Solid A8 chipper knives use A8 material for the whole blade. Inlay chipper knives usually use A8 modified steel or another wear-resistant material on the cutting edge, with a more economical base material for the knife body.
