Introduction of Ink scraper

Control of ink squeegees in offset printing is a complex process of ink delivery, including inks, plates, and paper. In gravure printing, the ink scraper is a mechanical operation that is relatively simple, but it has its own uniqueness. Ink scrapers require wear resistance and high efficiency to ensure high quality print quality, and it must be suitable for the long-lasting and high-speed needs of modern gravure printing. The ink scraper is a sheet on the printing machine for scraping off excess ink on the surface of the drum. The sheet is divided into metal and non-metal. The ink scraper removes ink from the unpatterned area during each printing process is a key point.

Ink scraper classification

Standard scraper

The standard scraper has a consistent blade thickness. Within the life of the blade, its contact area with the roller remains the same, so the color tone is exactly the same. The unique polishing of the blade section allows the blade to quickly fit the roller at the beginning of the print, reducing waste.

Angled scraper

The blade shape of the larger bevel design makes the blade wear less and the contact area is reduced to provide a clear squeegee effect. Large bevel designs also reduce blade breakage. The degree of bevel varies from 4° to 15° and is suitable for short-running gradation printing.

Coated scraper

The scraper is made of a carbon steel substrate coated with nickel. The coating provides excellent corrosion and oxidation resistance. It is extremely suitable for printing using corrosive inks and varnishes. During use, the coating also compensates for minor damage to the blade by impurities in the ink, thereby reducing the occurrence of hue changes and streaks. Coated scrapers are ideal for coating applications.

Sharp blade

The new scraper can be used in gravure presses when the blade angle is difficult to adjust. The sharp blade provides elastic tension while maintaining a high contact angle. This unique design ensures smooth blade pressure and maintains the correct contact angle. Reducing the printing pressure means extending the life of the drum and reducing the generation of streaks.

Trapezoidal scraper

With the advancement of science and technology, the research on the printing blade shows that the trapezoidal blade has a constant contact area with the plate roller from the beginning to the end, and the printing quality is consistent, and more and more are used by the printing manufacturers. Most of the scrapers used on the market today are such trapezoidal scrapers.
