Case study: stainless steel flat plate‘s head-up phenomenon

Overall situation:

The customer complained that the batch of stainless steel plates purchased had obvious head-up phenomenon and affected the use, so quality objection was raised.

Case study:

The batch of tablets purchased by the customer is 304.1, the thickness is 4.0mm, and the specification is 1500×6000mm. Through on-site inspection, the plates have indeed been upturned, and the plate itself has obvious side waves.

The upturn of the head is generally caused by the excessive amount of the flattening roller when the flat is opened. For steel coils of various thicknesses, the opening and pressing amount has corresponding setting parameters. Generally, this quality problem does not occur, so the processing record is consulted.

In the process of opening the flat, since the flat plate itself has a large side wave, in order to improve the side wave phenomenon, the operator increases the amount of pressing a lot, resulting in the upturn of the head.

In fact, the increase in the amount of reduction does not bring much improvement to the side waves. This medium-plate flattening equipment has a thicker roller diameter and no intermediate roller fine-tuning function, so it is basically incapable of the steel coil wave, especially the steel coil with a thickness of 3.0~4.0mm. The consequences of increasing the amount of reduction often only make the steel plate head upturned, and also have some damage to the equipment itself.

Result:

Strict implementation of the operating procedures, for these large waves of steel coils, and in the case of confirmation that can not be improved very well, should notify the customer before processing, ask the customer's opinion and then process.
